1944年，高铭暄考入温州中学高中部。1947年高中毕业后，在选择专业时，高铭暄的第一想法就是报考法律专业。由于成绩优异，他同时被浙江大学法学院、复旦大学法学院、武汉大学法学院三所大学录取。考虑到父亲在杭州地方法院工作，自己在杭州读书能与父亲同住，高铭暄最终选择了去浙江大学法学院读书。
